Remediation Testing
Why Have Mold Testing Done?
There are several reasons why you should have pre or post remediation testing done for mold:
Health Reasons - Mold has been linked to mulitple illnesses and diseases. If mold infects your lungs, skin or other parts of your body and goes undetected, you will continue to get worse.
Insurance Requirements - When filing for property remediation claims or medical benefits, it is critical that you have proof of the mold.
Sale of Your Property - In many states, you are required to disclose the existence of mold to the buyer. The first step to remediation is to find out how severe the problem is. If you have completed a mold remediation project, you need to document that the mold no longer exists.
Planning for a Mold Law Suit - Whether plantiff or defendant, having testing done is a necessary element of your case.
Issues Involved in Mold Investigations
There are a variety of questions that can be addressed as the result of a Mold Investigation:
- What types of mold exist
- How long the mold has existed
- Where was the mold found
- What is the likely cause of each type of mold found
- Are the conditions that likely generated the mold still continuing
- What is the condition of the mold or fungal colony
- Is the mold still active
Assessing Damages
Our certified remediation professionals will discuss and review mold growth’s potential harmful health effects and structural damage and costs in detail. We will address budgetary parameters, scheduling considerations and possible inconveniences, including providing the following:
- On-site inspections
- On-site evaluations
- Protocol Review
- Itemized Estimates
- Remediation
- Contents Repair
Investigative Demolition
It is sometimes problematic to determine the cause and/or structural deficiencies that may have been the initial impetus for mold growth. In these cases, we work closely with hygienists, consultants, engineering firms, attorneys, property owners and insurance companies to build either mini or fullscale controlled containments and provide experienced technicians and equipment for investigative demolitions.
The construction of controlled containments for investigative purposes also helps to ensure that cross contamination does not become an issue.
Services in this area include:
- Critical containment barriers
- Controlled demolition and disposal
- Negative air machines and air scrubbers
- Hepa vacuuming
- Abrasion of structural components
- Application of fungicides, biocides and encapsulants
- Personal protective equipment
Mold Removal Techniques and Methods
Mold proliferates throughout your home or business by giving off air borne spores. Proper remediation utilizes the following techniques and methods:
All critical barriers are sealed utilizing 6 mil plastic, preventing cross contamination to other areas.
Technicians utilize proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) equipment, including Tyvek suits, respirators, protective eyeware, gloves, and boots.
The effected work area is placed under negative air pressure, thus keeping the air pressure lower inside the work area. This eliminates cross contamination.
Contaminated porous materials, such as sheet rock, carpet, and carpet padding, should be removed.
All affected areas are manually wire brushed to remove mold stains. ECCE utilizes ice blasting technologies in severe cases.
All affected areas are encapsulated utilizing anti-fungal paint.
All affected areas are sprayed and hand wiped with anti-microbial solutions.
All affected areas are HEPA vacuumed.
Dehumidification and air scrubbing are perfomed utilizing commercial grade dehumidifier and air scrubbers, based on the cubic volume of the effected area for a three day minimum period.
How Mold Remediation works
This is a mold remediation we did in Sea Cliff New York . The basement tested positive for a type of mold called penicillium aspergillus. To remove air born mold spores, we reinstall HEPA filter air scrubbers. All along the walls and ceilings have been encapsulated with anti-fungal paint. Also,we vacuumed the entire space, placed coding of antimicrobial chemical to disinfect and prevent further mold grow. Then seet up proper dehumidification and air scrubbing.
Mold Testing and Removal
Here in Bayshore, NY. We are doing some mold testing. The reporting condition is carpeting, which has visible mold on it. We are collecting a sample to send to the lab to see what we have here.
